Privacy
Draft. This page has not been reviewed by a lawyer. It must be reviewed by a qualified professional before Tool Plum goes public with ads.
Short version
Tool Plum has no accounts and asks for no personal information. It shows no advertising and does no analytics or tracking at the moment. Tool Plum's own pages set no cookies and store nothing in your browser.
Tool Plum's own pages
The Tool Plum front page and the shared pages (this one, Terms, About, Contact and All tools) load all of their code and fonts from Tool Plum's own server. They do not contact any other company's server.
The service that hosts Tool Plum may keep standard server logs, such as your IP address and the pages you request, as any web host does. Tool Plum is hosted by Netlify.
If you email us
If you write to contact@toolplum.com, we receive your email address and your message. We use them only to read and answer your message. Messages sent to this address pass through our domain registrar's email forwarding service before they reach us.
Each tool
Each tool has its own section below, describing what it saves on your device and what leaves your device. A tool's section is added here before that tool goes public.
WitSpark
Saved on your device. WitSpark saves a small amount of data in your browser. It stays on your device and is not sent to WitSpark or anyone else. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.
- Your sound setting (on or off), so the speaker button remembers your choice.
- Your timer setting (on or off), so the Timer switch on the start screen remembers your choice.
- Today's Daily Challenge questions, so replaying it on the same device gives the same ten. Older days are removed.
- Whether you have seen the title screen in this browser session, so it plays once and is not shown again until you close the tab.
What leaves your device.
- Questions. When you start a round, your browser asks the Open Trivia Database for questions. The request says how many questions, which category and which difficulty. Like any website you visit, that service can see your IP address and browser details.
- Fonts. At the moment WitSpark loads its pixel lettering from Google Fonts, so Google can see your IP address and browser details when the game loads. This section will be updated if that changes.
Your answers and your score stay in your browser. They are not collected. The Share button either opens your device's own share sheet or copies a line of text (your score, category and difficulty) to your clipboard. Nothing is sent to us.
Those services have their own privacy policies.
Advertising
No advertising is shown today. If advertising is added later, this page will be updated first. It will name the advertising partners, explain what cookies or similar technology they use, and, where the law requires it, you will be asked for your consent.
Children
Tool Plum is for a general audience and is not aimed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Your choices
Because we hold almost no information about you, there is very little to correct or delete. If you want to ask about anything, email contact@toolplum.com.
If this changes
We update this page when something changes. The date below shows the latest change.
